Mangongo Water Project

Residents of Masana and Mwoki in Vihiga Sub-county got a relief on 8th October, 2018 after H.E. Dr. Wilber Ottichilo - Governor Vihiga County launched Mang'ong'o Water Project. The project was completed by the County Government Of Vihiga in partnership with the World Bank through COVEC and Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA). Deputy President’s Visit

Deputy President William Ruto's tour in Vihiga County has brought joy to the residents as he commissioned street lights in Cheptulu, Shiru ward. The street lights have been erected from Cheptulu-Friends College Kaimosi and Cheptulu- Kaimosi Teachers Training College costing 11 million in the first phase of a total of 750 million for the whole project. Finance Bill 2018/2019 of Vihiga County Signed into Law

Governor Wilbur Ottichilo on 11th October 2018 hosted Members of the County Assembly led by Honourable Speaker Husna Mudeizi to sign into law the Finance Bill 2018/2019. KENPHIA Launches Health Survey in Vihiga County

County Government of Vihiga Department of Health Services joined Kenya Population-based HIV Impact Assessment (KENPHIA) on 3rd October, 2018 in launching its survey in Vihiga county which is led by the National Ministry of Health.  The survey targets to interview approximately 36,000 randomly selected individuals across 47 counties to determine their HIV Status as well as test for Syphilis, Hepatitis B and nutritional status among minors and pregnant women. Joseph Kamau from KENPHIA confirmed that the survey helps in informing policies and knowing HIV status for future investment. Dr Amos Kutwa,Vihiga County’s Executive…

Vihiga County Launches Cardiac Unit as World Marks Heart Day

Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo Saturday 29th September 2018 launched a cardiac unit at Vihiga County Referral Hospital.The centre which is fully fledged and operational, also has a  cardiologist (Cuban doctor) sent by the National Government. For now Vihiga residents can go for diagnosis before being referred for treatment. Satellite Blood Transfusion Center in Vihiga

County Government of Vihiga's Department of Health in collaboration with the National Government is on its way to putting up a Satellite Blood Transfusion Center in Vihiga. This site will receive, screen and distribute blood to all facilities that will be in need of blood for transfusion in medical procedures.
